Description

Every year on September 25, World Pharmacists Day is celebrated to highlight the contributions of pharmacists in safeguarding public health across all nations. This year, the theme adopted by the FIP Bureau is "Think Health, Think Pharmacist," aiming to spotlight the vital role of pharmacists in addressing global challenges—from healthcare access, antimicrobial resistance, climate changes, economic pressures and budget cuts—to maintain a competent health workforce.

As part of the academic pharmacy institution, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mulawarman University, located in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia, will also take part in commemorating World Pharmacists Day by organizing “PILLARS (International Pharmacy Collaboration for Research and Science): Literature Review and Instagram Reels Competition”. The term “PILLARS” was intentionally chosen to reflect its literal meaning — foundations or supports. This symbolizes the role of this program as a key foundation in fostering and sustaining international collaboration between the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mulawarman University, and its partner institutions. Through collaborative scientific activities such as competitions, PILLARS is expected to serve as a strong platform for academic synergy and long-term partnership.

The main events of PILLARS 2025 are Literature Review and Instagram Reels Video Competition by using different themes in each category. This competition aims to foster critical, analytical, and solution-oriented thinking of future pharmacists through the creation of original, evidence-based scientific papers and videos on current issues and global challenges in the field of pharmacy and healthcare. The selected theme also has been aligned with the research focus among the participating countries as well as the topic highlighted by FIP for World Pharmacists Day 2025.
